بدأ ظهور مسلسل ون بيس على صفحات مجلة شونن جامب الأسبوعية في العدد 34 في الرابع من شهر اغسطس عام 1997.

بينما تم إنتاج مسلسل الإنيمي من قبل شركة تووي أنيميشن وبدأ بثه على قناة تلفزيون فوجي في العشرين من شهر اكتوبر عام 1999.

ويصل عدد الحلقات الي الان 475 حلقة. في البداية خطط أودا أن يستمر المسلسل لخمس سنوات فقط . وكان قد حدد نهاية المسلسل.

لكن الشعبية الهائلة التي حققتها ون بيس جعلته يقرر إطالة المسلسل وإضافة أحداث جديدة.

ون بيس هي أكثر قصص المانغا مبيعاً في تاريخ اليابان ، وقد تسببت في رفع مبيعات مجلة شونن جامب الأسبوعية لأول مرة منذ 11 سنة.

بعد صدور الجزء السابع والخمسين من ون بيس ، كانت المبيعات قد تعدت 185,600,000 نسخة .

تبدأ الرحلة بإبحار لوفى فى برميل صغير ثم يأخذ مركبآ و ينطلق للبحث عن طاقمه الموعود
و فى البداية يلتقى صائد قراصنة اسير يدعى “رورنوا زورو” الذى يستعمل ثلال سيوف فى القتال
يحرره لوفى و يعرض عليه الانضمام له يوافق زورو بعد برهة من التفكير ثم ينتقلان لجزيرة التقوا
فيها بفتاة تدعى “نامى” و هى سارقة كنوز و تحب المال كثيرآ و يعرض عليها لوفى الانضمام له كملاحة
ترفض بداية ثم توافق و بعدها ذهبوا لجزيرة و شاهدوا جيش كبير يحمل اعلام القراصنة ثم يكتشفوان
بسهولة ان هذا الجيش ثلاثة اطفال و قائدهم المُدعى الجبان “يوسوب” يقف خائف و لكن اُعجب لوفى من هدفه النبيل
فعرض عليه منصب بالفريق ثم بعد وقت يجرب الفريق مدفع السفينة ثم يصيبوا مطعم متنقل “مطعم بارتى”
يعمل لوفى بالمطعم لتعويض ثمن السقف المكسور يلتقى هناك بطباخ شاب يدعى “سانجى” و هو مغرم بالفتيات كثيرآ
يعرض عليه لوفى الانضمام اليه و بنهاية يوافق , و لكن تختفى نامى و قد اخذت كنز الطاقم و السفينة فيضطر لوفى للحاق بها
يكتشف بعدها انها تسرق من القراصنة لتدفع لقرصان من البرمائيين يدعى ارلونج يقاتله لوفى و يعيد لنامى حقها
و يعيد لجزيرة نامى حريتها المستحقة ثم يكملون المسيرة ….
